Assembling a modern computer, part 1

To start with, our class was tasked with assembling a couple of computers. While others were focusing on the other computer (or some other task), Nico and I were specifically working with the more modern PC. Originally happy about that fact, we would soon find out first-hand what happens to the next in line if someone in the work chain makes an error.

 - The name of this so modern but frustrating computer.

The water cooling system which was supposed to be installed into the PC was a real piece of work: we worked on it for hours until we figured out that the person who made the order for the equipment had made an error. The cooling system wasn’t compatible with the PC we were putting together, thus wasting almost the entire days’ work.
- Unfortunately, the documentation about the cooler hasn't been yet forwarded to me, so I can't attach it to the blog just yet.

As a learning experience, working with a partner was a success. We worked efficiently and fast and the only reason the actual assembling (not counting the installation of an Windows-system to the finished product) took more than a day, was because of the water cooling system.

Yet, the machine did have more flaws inherent on itself, not just the cooling system.

- The largest propeller, situated at the back of the PC, has remained non-functional. Both Arto (our class-teacher) and I searched for the cord which would link it to the motherboard, but it seems to be missing. Nevertheless, there are enough propellers in the machine to keep it working during the installation process.

That is all for today, I'm afraid. Stay tuned for more.

 - 29.4

This monday (27.04.2015) we started on our next project: establishing a workstation with two physical and one virtual machine.
Apparently, we will be using this workstation in our future tasks during this school-period, so it would be for the best if no mistakes were overlooked during the process: any problems might stay with us the remainder of the school year.

We were given certain guidelines which told us what the workstation required.

Three computers: first which would be used as a virtual machine, second would be installed with Windows 7 enterprise and the third Windows 8.1.
While I already had my standard comp- operational (and I would be using it as the one running the virtual PC), I would need to carry, install and equip the other two computers onto the same desk-space.

Gathering all the equipment to the desk took a short while, but still was relatively fast. The installation process of the different operating systems to the two new computers took longer, but in a few hours the first stages of the work was done.

I would still need to install all the required programs, drivers and settings, but that (alongside the virtual machine) was left for later.

Unlike my previous assignment, this one was an independent task.

It's one of those days again: our teacher is preoccupied with some official business, leaving us with a replacement.

If that wasn't enough, I had completely forgotten about the fact that our other teacher wouldn't arrive to today's classes as well, but her lessons would actually be canceled because of it. Arriving at 8.00, I ended up just sitting on my chair for 3.5 hours as I waited for something to do.

Nevertheless, it's not like it was boring - I could use a computer to surf the net in the meantime.

I had received a task from our teacher: to create a set of instruction on how to connect an Iphone to a computer in order to utilize the pictures taken.
